MacNutt, Saskatchewan
MacNutt is a village in Churchbridge Rural Municipality No. 211, Saskatchewan, Canada. The population of the village was 80 at the 2006 Canada Census. The former District of Landestreu was renamed in 1909 to honour Thomas MacNutt, the area Member of the Legislative Assembly at the time. The village was settled between the late 1880s and the 1910s by immigrants of predominantly German origin.
Demographics
In 2006, MacNutt had a population of 80 living in 44 dwellings, a -5.9% decrease from 2001. The village has a land area of 0.81 km2 (0.31 sq mi) and a population density of 98.5 /km2 (255 /sq mi).[5]
Notable MacNuttians
- David Kitz, a public school teacher, an actor, and best-selling author of Psalms Alive.[6] For over twelve years, he served as an ordained pastor with the Foursquare Gospel Church of Canada.
- Charlene McCarthy (Kasprowicz) and the McCarthy team still hold a Guiness World Record for the longest curling game. They held the Guinness Record for a few years then another team from Scotland beat the record. The McCarthy team regained the record again and still hold it (40 hr 23 min).[7]
